Rest In Peace Jonathan Trapman

It falls upon me to pay tribute to a wonderfully eccentric, maverick intellectual, photographer, writer and wordsmith of great renown, whose support of TGBMS and All Things UCT was passionate, enthusiastic and committed; who recently passed into the next realm during his eighth decade on this Earth, after a valiant fight to recover from a stroke.

Myself and Michael O’Deira met him at a screening of The Great British Mortgage Swindle in 2019. From then right up until to the moment he shuffled off this mortal coil on Monday 03 February 2025, Jonathan never missed an opportunity to declare that all UK registered mortgages are fraudulent and that UCT is the way forward, even if some of us won’t live long enough to see it come to its complete and resplendent fruition.

JT or Johnny, as he was affectionately known, was committed to the view that UCT is the all in one solution to the fraudulent, tyrannical system which has had the world in its grasp for so long and that it is merely a matter of time before our new advanced civilization renders the old, broken system obsolete. Jonathan was still maintaining his passionate views on these matters right up until the very last conversation I had with him.

May Jonathan’s soul rest in peace, but knowing him as well as I did after some of the most interesting conversations I’ve had with anybody, he will more than likely only be able to stand being away from the spotlight of this life for as long as it takes to reincarnate back here for another spin on the eternal karmic merry-go-round.

Deepest sympathy goes out to JT’s widow Virve and all his family and friends. Jonathan’s larger than life presence will be missed by everybody who knew him but memories of his inimitable character will be mutually cherished.
